Easter and Dawkinsism

I posted this on my Facebook on Easter, but I’ve decided to put it on my blog. Enjoy!

It is a little known fact that 2000 years ago, when Jesus was laid in the tomb, some people were so distraught that they turned to the non-religious religion of Dawkinsism. They didn’t know that Jesus would rise the next day. After 2000 years, a snippet of their Saturday morning service has been preserved. So before there was John 1, there was Dawkins 1.

Speaker: In the beginning was the Void, and the Void was with Nothing, and the Void was nothing. It was with Nothing in the beginning. Through Nothing, all things were made; without Nothing, nothing was made that has been made. In Nothing was life, and that life was the life of all mankind. This life thrives even in the ignorant, and the ignorant comprehend it not.

There was a man sent from Nothing, whose name was Dawkins. He came as a witness to testify concerning that Nothing, so that through him, all might disbelieve. He himself was not Nothing; he came came only as witness to Nothing. The true Nothing that gives everything to everyone was to be made known to the world. Nothing was in the world, and though the world was made through Nothing, the majority of the world did not recognise Nothing. Nothing came to that which was its own, but its own did not receive it. Yet to all who do receive it, to those who believed in Nothing, Nothing gives them the entropy to return and become children Children of Nothing at death.

Children who evolved of natural descent, by human decision and husband’s wills, all by the power of Nothing. The Void has made flesh, which dwells amongst us. We have seen its glory in creation, the glory as of an only Son, who comes from a non-existent Father, full of space and matter. (Dawkins testified concerning it. He cried out “This is that Void I spoke of when I said “This Void which will be after we’re gone, is greater than us, because Nothing was before us.”) Out of its emptiness we have all received, space after space. For nothing was given through God; but space and time came through Nothing. No one has ever understood Nothing, but Dawkins, who is the closest in tune with Nothing, has made Nothing known.

This is the word of Dawkins.

Response: Thanks be to Naught.

Speaker: And all the State’s people said?

Response: No God!

“But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. (1 Corinthians 15:12-19 NIV)”

Christianity is not just a Faith amongst many, there to make us feel good. If it’s wrong it’s stupid and we ought to abandon it. But if Jesus rose from the dead, then we ought to embrace the One who said “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6 NIV).”
